Historical records of Jesus?

A friend of mine claims to have seen a PBS special or something similar that
claimed the Romans kept records of all the men they crucified. Evidence of
Jesus' existence and crucifixion are supposedly recorded in those records.
I've always understood that evidence of Jesus' existence were sketchy at
best, allegorical at worst. Does anyone know anything about any historical
records concerning Jesus' existence, particularly as kept by the Romans?

(DAVE 4/20) Hello: As far as I know, there are no records around
concerning the Romans recording the crucifixion of Jesus - I don't know if
there are any crucifixion records at all, but some others on this list, like
Steven Carr, can say for sure.

As far as the question goes of whether they did keep records, and, in
particular, one of the crucifixion of Jesus, we don't know. They may have,
but we currently don't have access to them if they did.

To say we don't have them is correct. To say they were never made is an
unsubstantiated assertion.

Regards.

Dave.
