Walt Jr.-
However, back to our discussion. Just what is the evidence for the
theory of evolution? Please give me just three lines of evidence.

Aaron O-
Three lines of evidence for evolution are-
1. Geology
2. Molecular biology
3. Comarative embryology

Walt Jr-
Though the majority of scientists do believe in it, I don't believe it is
because of the overwhelming evidence that supports it...rather it is a
philosophical bias that demands that these scientists believe in it.

Aaron O-
The evidence IS overwhelming.
Just take a look in any university library and you will find
many thousands of journal articals containing evidence for evolution.

Walt Jr-
This is evidenced by the fact that classical Darwinism is being rejected
more and more everyday. New theories of evolution have arisen (ie.
punctuated equilibrium [which is unfalsifiable by the way]; directed
panspermia [which is untestable])

Aaron O-
There is some dissagreement in the scientific community
over the mechanism of evolution. There is certainly no dissagrement
over whether evolution has happened. Just because knowlege of the
mechanism of evolution is uncertain, that is in no way disproof
of the factuality of evolution.
There is disagreement in the scientific community over the
reconciliation of quantum mechanics with general relativity.
This does not mean that there is no such thing as gravity.

Walt Jr-
The current state of knowledge about evolution is in a disarray.
Though most hold to it, there is far from consensus about anything in
this theory. However, to accept the consensus of scientists on the
beginning of the universe is more reasonable because the data is clear.
(Red Shift, Entropy, Background Radiation, Expanding Galaxies, ...)
These discoveries are KNOWN, whereas the facts for evolution are much
more vague if not non-existent. I look forward to your evidence.

Aaron O-
It is dishonest of you to say that "knowledge about evolution is in a
disarray". While there is uncertanty about how evolution
has happened, there is NO disagreement about whether it has happened.
It is dishonest of you to say that the "facts for evolution are ...
vague if not non-existent". I suspect that you don't even
know what all of the lines of evidence are. I have mentioned
some of them above.

On the other hand, if you believe that the biblical account of
creation is inerrant, then the BURDON OF PROOF lies with
you. You must find evidence to support this account.
Of course you could repeat some of the dishonesties propegated
by the various creation "science" organizations of the world.
But I should warn you, that I am well aware of the various
tactics used by these organisations. Their dishonesty has been
well documented.
