Correction. It is worse than no explanation at all.

Someone who has no explanation is free to try to find such an
explanation. We learn by admitting that we do not know, then trying
to fill the gaps in our knowledge.

Someone who wants an explanation so badly that he says "God did it"
even though he has no evidence for it, will be limited in his search
for answers. Either he will not look at all, since he already has an
answer that satisfies him, or he will look only for evidence that
confirms his pre-existing belief.
