Mao was considered a "closet christian" by several high ranking Chineses
officials, including Deng(who replaced him). He was said to have kept a
bible in his quarters even though he outwardly persecuted believers of all
religions. On his deathbed, he asked for Fr. Lin Pin-Loo, a former childhood
friend who was head priest of "The Holy Trinity Church" in Hong Kong, but he
arrived in street clothes too late.
