THE FORGOTTEN SIN! ========================== Did you know that it is a sin to pick up sticks on Saturday?
Strangely enough, few people do -- even though the Word of God makes it perfectly clear!
Yes, picking up sticks on Saturday, the original Hebrew Sabbath, is a sin so serious in the eyes of our loving Heavenly Father that it warrants death by stoning! Any doubters need only open their Bibles to Numbers 15:32-36.
'While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses, Aaron, and all the congregation. And the Lord said to Moses, "The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp."'
There it is brothers and sisters-right there in the Word! And who are we to argue with God? If the Lord who created heaven and earth says that it is a mortal sin to pick up sticks on Saturday, we had better take Him seriously!
IT STILL APPLIES! ========================== Unfortunately, many modern ministers would try to delude us into thinking that it is no longer a sin to pick up sticks on Saturday.
Most have followed the lead of Rome in celebrating the false Sabbath of Sunday. But a thorough check of the New Testament reveals no instruction from God to change his Sabbath!
Many ministers would say that the death of Jesus on the cross somehow makes it all right for us to violate the Sabbath because the cross removed our obligation to obey Old Testament law.
NONSENSE! Did Christ's death make it all right to commit adultery? Did it make it all right to commit murder?
Of course not!
So if those Old Testament laws were not abolished by Christ's death, then how can we assume that the law about Sabbath keeping has been done away with?
The truth is, my friends, that some don't want to be inconvenienced -- they want to be "comfortable Christians." They want to accept only the parts of the Bible that suit their lifestyles, and to ignore the parts that do not.
"I the Lord do not change," states Malachi 3:6!
If the Lord does not change, then his attitude toward picking up sticks on Saturday has not changed one bit!
