I said, quite clearly and in more than one post that the Babylonians
were a riparian civilization, which would have experienced floods,
occasionally devastating, during the course of their history.
Almost all riparian civilizations have flood stories of some kind.
Almost no non-riparian cultures do. Unless they've been in contact
with a riparian culture.
Babylon--on river--floods--stories about big floods.
Hebrews--live in babylon--hear stories--write down stories.
Simple enough?
